When marking products, we at Barcode-Etiketten.com pay particular attention to ensuring that the marking conforms to standards and is easy to read and scan. High-contrast, sharp black print and optimum positioning of the print on the labels are extremely important.
There are different requirements for the labeling of goods depending on the area of application. We have divided the product labels into four sub-categories in order to perfectly match the labels to the use in each area.
EAN labels
EAN (European Article Number) has officially been called GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) since 2009. However, nothing has changed in terms of the basic structure or use.
EAN or GTIN codes have become an integral part of the retail trade. The time required by cashiers is considerably less if the items can simply be scanned in. The EAN code can be ordered online. The official issuing authority in Germany is GS1 Germany. Other providers also offer the allocation of EAN codes on the Internet, but not all offers are reputable.
Seal labels
Seal labels are specially designed for sealing letters or parcels in shipping or for tamper-proof labeling of your own goods. The special thing about sealing labels is that they cannot be removed without leaving clear traces. When seal labels are removed, a chessboard-shaped pattern remains, indicating at a glance that an attempt has been made to remove them. By sticking them on your own goods, retailers can be sure that the item really does come from their own warehouse when returning goods. Screw holes in battery compartments, for example, can also be covered with sealing labels so that any access is obvious.
PZN labels
The Pharmacy Central Number is used to label medicines and pharmacy products. The eight-digit number is assigned by the IFA. When the barcode is scanned, buyers can find out online how the medicine should be used and which active ingredients it contains. Pharmacies need the PZN for billing health insurance companies and to keep stock levels up to date. The number is always preceded by PZN in plain text on the label. However, the letters are not coded in the barcode.
Labels for production control
QR and DataMatrix are used in virtually all areas. QR codes were developed by Toyota (or its subsidiary) for the labeling of car parts, and even today the marking of components with QR or DM codes is extremely important. Today, the use of QR codes goes far beyond the marking of components. QR and DataMatrix codes have become an integral part of everyday life. The advantage of the codes over barcodes is the higher error tolerance when scanning.
